Turkey strongly condemns the recent claims of independence made by the coalition of insurgent Kurdish groups of northern Iraq, (whom our intelligence indicates have strong ties to domestic terrorist organizations in Turkey including the PKK), and encourage our them to denounce terrorist ties and work within the Iraqi national government. Turkey continues to stress the importance of a unified and stable Iraq. We are working with our friends and allies in the region towards this goal. Turkey maintains its sovereign to station its military forces where needed to maintain national security.
We are also improving our Kurdish population's cultural, democratic and economic situation through reforms of our domestic Constitution.
We are continuing our close economic relationship with Iran to guarentee oil and gas pipelines to Europe.
