President Ahmadinejad prasies the US willingness to engage is discussions over a unified Iraq. US leaders approached the surprised Iranian government pleading for a solution to recent tensions. This elevates Iran's status as an international player in the Iraqi-Kurdish question, and Iran welcomes its new found leadership position.
